[edit] Song Meaning and Composition
Logan Swafford, who wrote the song, stated that the song is, "Bringing light to the improper packaging and distribution of the candy industry." Thomas and Swafford have sited "Crunch Bars and Cyanide" as one of their more politically controversial songs. When preforming the song live, Thomas will often announce, "This song is not a rebel song, this song is 'Crunch Bars and Cyanide'" or alternatively, "This song is not anti-Candy, it's anti-poison!"
The song utilizes a 3 power chord riff over dubbed six times (Three in each channel). Thomas has stated that he wanted to replicate the raw, yet harmonious guitar sound heard on "Fell in Love With a Girl" by The White Stripes. The drums were created using several layers of samples, most notably a simple bass/snare pattern and a snare drum roll during the chorus.
[edit] Lyrics
~Bloody candy industry!~
They pack your candy in the same factory where,
bombs and anthrax live.
The sugary sweets attack your brain,
What diseases do they give?
Bomb-pops, blow-pops,
Snick-ers, Twizz-lers,
Choc-olate treats and pep-per-ment crèmes
So-ur, Nou-gat
What will you get?
Crunch bars and Cyanide!
They mask their treats with bright pack-a-ging
Who knows what they contain?
Poison vapors hide inside
They’re leaving you in pain.
Bomb-pops, blow-pops,
Snick-ers, Twizz-lers,
Choc-olate treats and pep-per-ment crèmes
So-ur, Nou-gat
What will you get?
Crunch bars and Cyanide!
~Oi me, I need a lager~
